Kickstart Accelerator in Zurich is open to international Applications

The Kickstart Accelerator 2018 in Zürich is open to national and international startups developing and/or applying science and engineering driven technologies. This year are in focus especially AI, Big Data, Blockchain, Robotics etc. – in and around the areas of EdTech & Learning, FinTech & Crypto, Food & Retail Tech, and Smart Cities & Infrastructure.
Entrepreneurs selected for the program will live and work in Zurich to implement projects collaboratively with the partners and scaling their business. Support by mentors and experts from the Swiss innovation ecosystem will be provided and participants get in touch with investors and take part in collaboration workshops. Up to CHF 10’000 of program stipends will be given to the startup will with no equity stake or fees taken.
The aim of Kickstart Accelerator is bridging the gap between startups, corporates, cities, foundations and universities to accelerate deep tech innovation. Each year, Kickstart brings around 100 such entrepreneurs to Switzerland to collaborate with key players for proof-of-concepts, pilot projects and other innovation partnerships.
Kickstart Accelerator is an initiative of Impact Hub Zürich and was launched 2015 by digitalswitzerland and is run together with leading partner organizations: Coop, Credit Suisse, Migros and Swisscom as well as AXA Winterthur, City of Zurich, ETH Zürich, EY, Gebert-Rüf-Stiftung, Mercator Foundation Switzerland, Stäubli, Swisslinx and University of Zurich.

Social Impact Award in 19 Countries

The Social Impact Award (SIA) is one of the most important programs for the design and development of social enterprises in Europe. Founded in 2009, SIA runs education and incubation programs, according the SIA website in 19 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia to support early-stage social entrepreneurs in developing and implementing innovative business solutions to tackle the most important societal challenges of our times. This is achieved by hosting events and organizing workshops to raise awareness for social entrepreneurship, teaching the necessary skills to navigate from vague intentions to promising ventures, providing access to networks and promoting the best teams with the Social Impact Award.
SIA Switzerland now is open for applications as the first Swiss-wide program of the Impact Hub network. The award program is aimed at sensitizing young people who want to realize their own projects and thus change and improve the world. At workshops, participants will present their ideas for winning a personalized three-month incubation program, a cash prize and a ticket to the SIA Summit in Georgia. SIA aims at promoting social entrepreneurship among young people in Switzerland. The best team will receive a cash prize, a 3-months incubation program. Registration is now open.
The program was officially launched at the Impact Hub Lausanne, with an event with inspiring speakers, successful entrepreneurs, coaches, mentors and jury members.

SIA is organized by Impact Hub Geneva and Lausanne in partnership with Euforia, UBS, WWF, University of Vienna and ERSTE Stiftung and in collaboration with Impact Hub Bern and Zurich that offers a variety of services at six locations in the city.

Gauteng Accelerator Innovation Competition 2018 opens Applications

IC, Green, Biotech and Medical entrepreneurs and researchers and those driving township economies are called to apply for the actual Gauteng Accelerator Innovation Competition. The innovation agency of the Gauteng province, Innovation Hub, opened the annual Gauteng Accelerator Program (GAP) competitions.
GAP Innovation Competition is looking for novel technologies and services that will accelerate the efficiency of government services, increase the competitiveness of the local economy and enhance the quality of life of ordinary citizens. During the past six years, the competitions have attracted more than 500 entries and invested over R10 million in seed funding and incubation support to over 55 startups in all sectors. GAP competitions have five categories, each reflective of The Innovation Hub's priority sectors.
Entry forms for the competitions are available online at the GAP website www.theinnovationhub.com/gap. The deadline is June 15, 2018. The semi-finalists will be invited to attend business training workshops and hackathons relevant to their categories. On November 15, 2018 the winners of the cash awards and seed funding, and incubation services will be announced at an award ceremony to be held at The Innovation Hub.
