Arabnet Beirut 2018 on February 20 – 22, 2018 will focus on Digital Transformation in sectors such as retail, healthcare, travel and f&b through solutions that help enhance customer experience, improve services and products, and optimize performance and efficiency. The event will feature a full track of discussions about the best practices for digital transformation across sectors and the opportunities for innovators in different industries.
Arabnet Beirut 2018 also will include a Media and Advertising Forum, a Banking Innovation Day, an Innovation and Investment Forum, a Founders Day as well as several Competitions.
The 4 competitions will highlight emerging talent and innovators: The Startup Battle, which will select the top 3 startups from Beirut to compete against the best in the region at the Startup Championship in Dubai in May (and chance to win $20,000); the Ideathon, for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas; the Creative Combat, showcaseing budding marketing talents’ ability to develop unique online campaigns; and the Innovation Avenue, highlights hardware innovator.

The Future of Maintenance (Part II) is the theme for round ten for the DB Accelerator looking for startups that can make mobility even more reliable. Questions to be answered by the start-ups are, for example, how can the maintenance of trains and lines be raised to the next level with the help of Augmented and Virtual Reality? When and where can robots be used for maintenance? And how can trains or signals be controlled more cost-effectively?

Bavaria starts the Year 2018 with Business Plan Competitions

The Bavarian Business plan Competitions for founders and startups offer the chance to compete three phases. All submitting teams receive extensive written feedback on their ideas and business plans from an honorary jury of investors, entrepreneurs and other experts of the start-up ecosystem. Top teams get the chance to win a place in the BayStartUP coaching program and invitations to exclusive business and investor events.
The cmpetitions are structure regionally: Munich Business Plan Competition and the business plan competitions Northern Bavaria, Bavarian Swabia as well as “ideenReich”. So far 1,600 companies with 11,400 employees and €1 billion turnover have emerged from the Bavarian business plan competitions. The main business areas are
- Information and communication technologies (software, internet, mobile etc.)
- Life Sciences (biotech, healthcare, medical technology etc.)
- technologies (hardware, electrical engineering, energy, mechanical engineering, optics etc.)
- Innovative service / innovative services
The focus in phase 1 of the competition is on business idea and customer benefit. A business outline of approx. 7 pages (short executive summary, detailed description of the product/service, market and competition) is required.

"Start me up!" Startup Competition now open for Applications

The third round of the "Start me up!" competition started and now is open for applications until March 31, 2018.
Young founders can apply online with their business idea for the prize money of €100,000 and lots of media attention.
The German business magazine BILANZ in close cooperation with business partners has launched this initiative to support entrepreneurship and make better use of the intellectual and technical potential of the young elite - for more entrepreneurship, smarter problem solving and a growth spurt. The underlying idea is that Germany needs to further improve entrepreneurship and startup support to master the economic and socio-political challenges.
"Start me up!" is looking for women and men who have the courage to take risks and are ready to use their talents to build a growing company.
BILANZ and its cooperation partners (Deutsche Bank AG, HanseMerkur, Daimler AG, ProSiebenSat1 Media SE and the Maschmeyer Group) support selected founders with money, advice, access to established companies, and media coverage.
The annual startup competition "Start me up!" provided €100,000 in prize money to the winners support by advice and mentoring by business professionals as well as networking access to large industries.
"Start me up!" is open to anyone. After the application phase closed a jury will make a pre-selection to prepare the decision of the main jury that determine who will be chosen as the winner of the award ceremony in June 2018.

In 2017 the start-up company Diamon Tech ("Diabetes Monitoring Technology"), a  spin-off of the Goethe University Frankfurt with its business idea of ​​non-invasively measuring the blood sugar of diabetics.
In 2016: Artiminds Robotics from Karlsruhe won the first round of the start-up competition with its software that allows to program industrial robots easily.
