Hanover Messe is looking for the future digital World Market Leader

The competition “Young Tech Enterprises” is organized by the Association of German Startups in cooperation with Hannover Messe. Now is the time to apply for the startup pitches “Young Tech Enterprises” at Hannover Messe 2018 (April 23 – 27, 2018). The deadline for applications is March 29, 2018.

40 selected startups will be competing not only for prize money, but also for potential investors, customers, partners and media attention. Startups in industrial automation drive and fluid technology, energy to compressed air and vacuum technology, industrial subcontracting and research can apply for one of the 10-minute pitches. The pitches take place daily on the Young Tech Enterprises Stage in hall 17. The winner will be determined by a jury of experts.

"Start me up!" Startup Competition now open for Applications

The third round of the "Start me up!" competition started and now is open for applications until March 31, 2018.
Young founders can apply online with their business idea for the prize money of €100,000 and lots of media attention.
The German business magazine BILANZ in close cooperation with business partners has launched this initiative to support entrepreneurship and make better use of the intellectual and technical potential of the young elite - for more entrepreneurship, smarter problem solving and a growth spurt. The underlying idea is that Germany needs to further improve entrepreneurship and startup support to master the economic and socio-political challenges.
"Start me up!" is looking for women and men who have the courage to take risks and are ready to use their talents to build a growing company.
BILANZ and its cooperation partners (Deutsche Bank AG, HanseMerkur, Daimler AG, ProSiebenSat1 Media SE and the Maschmeyer Group) support selected founders with money, advice, access to established companies, and media coverage.
The annual startup competition "Start me up!" provided €100,000 in prize money to the winners support by advice and mentoring by business professionals as well as networking access to large industries.
"Start me up!" is open to anyone. After the application phase closed a jury will make a pre-selection to prepare the decision of the main jury that determine who will be chosen as the winner of the award ceremony in June 2018.

In 2017 the start-up company Diamon Tech ("Diabetes Monitoring Technology"), a  spin-off of the Goethe University Frankfurt with its business idea of ​​non-invasively measuring the blood sugar of diabetics.
In 2016: Artiminds Robotics from Karlsruhe won the first round of the start-up competition with its software that allows to program industrial robots easily.

Innovation in the public sector driven by Startups

Digitalization is moving fast. But the public sector is not keeping up with the speed.Servcies of the public sector still are mostly provided the “good old way” – maybe with the exception of Estonia.
To give an impulse to e-government and a new era of govTech Pioneers si organizing Europe's first GovTech event for leading politicians, public CIOs, startups, corporations and VC’s. The aim is bringing together representatives of the political administration with innovators and startups; to make the innovators behind a $400bn market meet and learn about the latest trends in Citizen Collaboration, Blockchain and Security.
GovTech.Pioneers will be held May 23, 2018 in Vienna (Palais Wertheim). Startups can apply by March 31, 2018 to get a slot in the series of 32 pitch at the event

East Africa: Creative Enterprise Program and Mobility Grants

Entrepreneurs already in the process of setting up their own creative enterprise are invited to apply for the East Africa Creative Enterprise Program initiated by the British Council in partnership with Nesta (UK innovation foundation). The program targets entrepreneurs from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda; the opportunity is to attend this four-day training in Kampala, Uganda.

Successful Start: EU4Business project launched in Armenia

The EU4Business project launched its ‘Successful Start’ program in Armenia to support start-ups, SMEs (three years in business) and job seekers in business managerial positions, in the regions of Armavir, Lori, and Syunik.
Target sectors are food processing and tourism in three regions:
Armavir region: in Armavir, Vagharshapat, Myasnikyan.
Lori region: in Alaverdi, Stepanavan, Vanadzor
Syunik region: in Sisian, Goris, Kapan
Neighboring communities are included and the program offers training, information, professional consulting and financial support components. The most viable business ideas will have an opportunity to apply for financial support through grants under favorable conditions for the creation of new jobs.

Application deadlines (between April 1 and June 1) and depend on the region.
